And in the morning it still looks pretty nice.
IMG_3704.JPG
I hope it stays this way!
IMG_3710.JPG
ZAAAANNNNNN! I finally gave him two empty rolls of duct tape and they kept him occupied for quite some time.
IMG_3712.JPG
Zan gets away with being very very bad because he is...cute. So far he has eaten two pairs of shoes, a pair of socks and some pants.
IMG_3716.JPG
And behold my new outfit! Zan is getting away with murder again.
IMG_3718.JPG
I incorporated elements from my other costume as you can see. Someone at lunch made the sarcastic comment, "THAT'S a new look for you!"
IMG_3719.JPG
Finishing up dinner... Sam Burbank is on the left, Joe & Mel (our fabulous cook) share the end of the table. Our helmet rack is behind them. I kept going for the small helmet with pink stripes on the bottom right.
IMG_3720.JPG
Dinner time!
IMG_3721.JPG
Tom at the other end of the table is about to give me a very eloquent tour of the greenhouse. Brian is the only one paying attention to my camera.
IMG_3722.JPG
Addy from Hamilton Sundstrand and I are shooting eachother while Robert Stewart from the University of Calgory walks by with his camera. It's a camera frenzy!
IMG_3723.JPG
We're all running around getting off the cuff shots. Bill Clancy and Charles Cockell are reflecting upon somethingorother.
IMG_3724.JPG
Addy and Stan from Hamilton Sundstrand are writing up their reports about their research. Their Mars suit and other equipment is packed and ready to go on the Twin Otter. Their plane was delayed until tomorrow due to bad weather.
IMG_3725.JPG
Pascal and Carlos (from the University of Calgary) help Mel with dishes.
IMG_3727.JPG
Pascal scrubbing away.
IMG_3730.JPG
Jeff Jones, M.D., from NASA Johnson Space Center is setting up for a talk he will give tonight about medical issues with humans in space.
IMG_3731.JPG
Yes, I'm taking your picture!
IMG_3732.JPG
I just realized that I was struggling to take pictures of GOOD weather and blue skies (which have been few and far between), so I decide to show what it's like during the majority of my stay...
IMG_3734.JPG
Damp, windy and cold!
IMG_3735.JPG
The greenhouse crew is blowing in the wind!
IMG_3739.JPG
What are they doing with that trashbag? And why is Sam running?
IMG_3738.JPG
I think I know what they're doing.... haha
IMG_3740.JPG
Tom and Matt are doing the trashbag/wind trick. This is pretty darn funny.
IMG_3741.JPG
Steve Braham wonders what the heck is going on.
IMG_3742.JPG
How about that greenhouse tour?
IMG_3743.JPG
Here we have the solar panels on the left and the ...you guessed it... wind powered generator to the right (which is going so fast now it is making some great whistling sounds). Finally, Tom is taking me to give me a greenhouse tour!
IMG_3744.JPG
Here we have the propane tanks that fuel the heaters for the greenhouse, back-ups and all.
IMG_3746.JPG
Temperature sensors are hanging here and there in the greenhouse. Some are at the level of the plants, and some are at other locations.
IMG_3748.JPG
Tom explains that the computer cpu is located in the leftmost module in the metal box.
IMG_3749.JPG
This lettuce will be all grown up and brown and shriveling by the time anyone gets back to Devon Island, but the tray next to this one is timed to be edible during next year's field season.
IMG_3751.JPG
Tom explains the power control box, and how the batteries down below are charged.
